S&W
Precision Specialties has developed an extremely high competence
in both short and long manufacturing runs and prototyping.
We use this every day in the production of cars
and components used in both professional and sportsman
drag racing. Our customers lives depend on our expertise.
We make these skills available to selected companies
in industries that have similar requirements. Strong
quality control, relatively short production runs,
exacting specifications and a commitment to quality.
What
is waterjet?
Waterjet is a versatile and cost effective cutting
system used as an alternative to traditional machining
methods. Waterjet completely eliminates heat affected
zones, work hardening and thermal stress. This is
accomplished using supersonic water jets at pressures
to 50,000 psi and a CNC controlled precision cutting
head. If abrasive is used in combination with water,
materials considered "unmachinable" by
conventional methods can easily be cut. Abrasive
jet cutting avoids thermal damage which can adversely
affect metallurgical properties in materials being
cut.
S&W Precision Specialties
uses waterjet technology in various
applications to cut complex shapes replacing operations
that were formerly performed by machining or lasers.
Virtually any material, including steel, aluminum,
plastics, rubber, glass, lexan, ceramic tile,
brass, copper, carbon fiber, wood and more!
Even
marble, granite, glass, composites, foams and difficult
materials such as stainless steel, titanium and
inconel or material too thick for plasma or laser
cutting, can be cut using waterjet technology.
Advantages
in process time, accuracy, tooling and environmentally
friendly benefits are realized.
Nesting
program optimizes production and reduces
material waste.
4
x 8 foot work table handles large jobs.
No
heat affected zones, No thermal stress or distortion.

The
S&W Waterjet Advantage
CUTTING WITHOUT HEAT Waterjet technology
is ideal for cutting heat-sensitive material. Costs
due to thermal distortion of machine parts are eliminated.
Risk of fatigue resulting from process induced thermal
stressing and associated structural change is minimized.
USER
FRIENDLY S&W >Precision Specialties can work from
your rough sketch, finished drawing or CAD generated
art files. S&W 's waterjet accepts your drawings
in .DXF, .IGS, .DXB, .MNS, .VGR, and .DCZ formats,
or our engineering department can create the required
computer files from your paper drawings or sketches.
Our AutoCAD and Pro-Engineer work stations can
turn your ideas into realities!NO
FINISHING OPERATION REQUIRED Selection
of appropriate cutting parameters such as operation
pressure, cutting head speed, abrasive particle
size and flow rate can eliminate the need for
secondary operations.NEAR
ZERO LATERAL CUTTING FORCE Waterjet systems
reduce fixture costs and eliminates excessive
stress to finished parts. Also, minimal lateral
force simplifies material handling and allows
cutting close to material edges
MINIMAL
WASTE MATERIAL With typical orifice diameters
in the range of .004-.010 inches, waterjet kerf
width is kept to a minimum thus maximizing material
utilization.
OMNIDIRECTIONAL
CUTTING Waterjet cut profiles are not
cut confined to straight line geometries, thus
eliminating traditional start holes
